The Cass River provides many different types of boating opportunities in the Frankenmuth area. The City offers a boat launch for boaters to access the river upstream of the dam. The launch is located at 531 E. Tuscola St. It is a concrete launch, but fairly narrow and can only accommodate smaller boats. The launch is open year-round free of charge. A parking area is provided for vehicles with trailers, along with picnic areas on shore. The Cass River is a “NO WAKE” zone from the boat launch downstream to the dam.
Canoeing & Kayaking
Canoeing and kyaking are also popular activities along the Cass River. A handicap accessible floating canoe/kayak launch was recently opened in Heritage Park. This site provides an opportunity to enjoy the river upstream of the dam in Frankenmuth.
For those paddlers that want to enjoy more miles of river, consider launching in Vassar or Tuscola and paddling downstream to Frankenmuth.
Paddlers can also launch small boats by hand below the dam on the south side of the river. From there, the next access point is Beyer Rd. Please be aware that this section of river (downstream of the dam) is shallow and may not be passable with a boat during low water levels.

There are also some commercial boating operations on the river that provide tours for the public. For more information on these opportunities, please contact the Chamber of Commerce.
