Building Permits & Inspections.
It is necessary to obtain the
proper building, electrical,
mechanical and/or plumbing permits
prior to starting a construction
project. New buildings, alterations,
remodeling, additions, swimming
pools, signs, re-siding, re-roofing,
window replacements, decks,
fences and sheds require a permit.

Cemetery.
The City and Township jointly
operate a public cemetery located
on W. Tuscola Street. For information

Curbside Collection of Waste
In the spirit of community pride,
your help and cooperation is
requested in following the regulations
in order to maintain Frankenmuth's
reputation as a clean and beautiful
community.

Library
The James E. Wickson Memorial
Library collection includes
a large variety of publications,
sources, electronic databases
and programs and participates
in an interlibrary loan program.
Access to personal computers
and the Internet are also available.
The library offers evening and
weekend hours.

Parks
The City offers 18 parks
containing over 100 acres of land.
The parks offer different
environments and facilities for
enjoyment by the public. The parks
are used for recreation, family
gatherings, picnics and other
social events. Selected park
buildings and facilities may
be reserved by contacting
Parks & Recreation Department.

Public
Works
The Department of Public Works
has a full-time superintendent
and six full-time employees.
The DPW is responsible for the
maintenance and general up-keep
of the City streets, storm sewer
drains and detention basins,
buildings, public grounds, street
trees, sidewalks and water and
sewer mains.

Street Lights
Those street lights that are
not in proper working order
can be reported to
City
Hall. Please provide the
address of the closet intersection
of the malfunctioning light.
Also give your name and address
in case additional information
is required.

Tax
Assessor
The City Assessor is a state
certified assessor and is responsible
for the assessments of all real
and personal property. Assessment
change notices are usually mailed
the second week in February.

Voter
Registration &
Election
Information
To be eligible to vote, you
must be registered at least
30 days prior to an election.
You may register to vote at
City Hall. Primary and general
elections are held at two precincts
located in City Hall. School
district elections are held
at the Ritmueller Middle School.

Wastewater Treatment Plant
The Wastewater Treatment Plant
has a full-time superintendent
and four full-time employees.
Technology has enabled the plant
and its personnel to treat raw
sewage wastewater into water
that is near drinking quality.

Water
The water system has a full-time
superintendent who is assisted
by DPW personnel. The system
distributes treated water from
the City of Saginaw through
its mains. Two water towers
are used to pressurize the system.

ensure that proper zoning approvals
are obtained.
