In the spirit of community pride, your help and cooperation is requested in following these regulations in order to maintain Frankenmuth's reputation as a clean and beautiful community.

A. Refuse Collection. Unlimited plastic bags, no greater than 33 gallons, may be placed at the curbside by 7:00 A.M. every Wednesday morning. REFUSE IS NOT TO BE PLACED OUT TO THE CURB ANY EARLIER THAN 7:00 P.M. ON THE EVENING BEFORE COLLECTION. Bags must be of a material that is waterproof, tight-sealing and durable enough to prevent ripping or tearing. Bags shall not exceed 50 pounds when filled and be drained free of liquids. Plastic or metal receptacles are not permissible at the curbside, unless disposal of the receptacle is requested. Large Household Items - If you desire to dispose of household furniture, appliances or refuse that is too bulky to place into a bag, residents are allowed up to, two large items placed out to the curb each week. Place the item(s) by the curb and collection employees will tag the item(s), note the location and arrange for pick-up at a later time by a specialized vehicle. Please note that depending upon the pick-up volume, a delay of up to several days may occur. Call the City office at (989) 652-9901or go to www.mmwa1991.org for additional details.

B. Recyclables Collection. In order to reduce the volume of refuse and hold costs down, residents are strongly encouraged to recycle. Paper products, boxboard and cardboard, along with clean and rinsed plastic, tin, aluminum and glass can be placed by the curbside for recycling. A preparation guide is available at the City Office. Weekly curbside collection of recyclables is every Wednesday at 7:00 A.M. RECYCLING BINS ARE NOT TO BE PLACED OUT TO THE CURB ANY EARLIER THAN 7:00 P.M. ON THE EVENING BEFORE COLLECTION AND BINS MUST BE REMOVED BY THE EVENING ON COLLECTION DAY. Recycling bins must be at curbside in order for recycling to be picked up. Recycling bins and brown grocery type paper bags used to hold paper products are the only containers to be used for the collection of recyclables. Plastic bags are not acceptable. Residents may place multiple recycling bins by the curb each week. The City Office has additional recycling bins available for $10 each (first bin free for new residences). Go to www.mmwa1991.org for the latest recycling guide.

C. Yard Waste Collection. (State law requires that yard waste be kept separate from refuse.) Grass clippings, hedge trimmings, leaves, vegetation, or smaller twigs that can be bagged, may be placed into a plastic bag, no larger than 33 gallons. The bags will be collected every Tuesday and must be placed by the curbside before 7:00 A.M. Requests for this collection must be pre-arranged. Each bag must have a red "City of Frankenmuth Yard Waste Tag" attached or it will not be collected. Each red tag costs $4.00 and may be purchased at the City Office, Gill-Roy's Hardware, Kroger and Satow's Drug Store.

Please leave your name, address, telephone number and number of bags with the City's yard waste contractor, Brian Millerov, at 823-8757 (a LOCAL CALL), up to 7:00 P.M. on the Monday prior to the Tuesday collection date desired. This service is available from Tuesday, March 25, 2008 through Tuesday, November 18, 2008.
